TRANSGRESSIVE RECORDS: 'THE SINGLES VOLUME 1' COLLECTION - OUT NOW
Transgressive Records, spiritual and early/long-term record-label home to many of today's finest and most important, emergent new artists, and general purveyors of musical genius/prowess unrivalled elsewhere, celebrates its first 18 months this week (24th April) with a unique release on the shelves.
'The Singles: Volume 1' is a lavishly housed, two-disc package, with booklet, comprising a CD/DVD of the first, five ultra-rare, sold out Transgressive 7"-vinyls released between the end of 2004 and the summer of 2005. All tracks that were released during this period are accounted for - so previously rare-as-hell, debut tracks from THE SUBWAYS, LADYFUZZ, burningpilot, MYSTERY JETS, and THE PIPETTES can now be obtained - and bonus, rare tracks also come from BLOC PARTY and THE RAKES: two acts originally released on Tim of Transgressive's prior label, Trash Aesthetics.
The DVD features the seldom-seen promo videos from each of the above acts, and an exclusive, never-before-aired live performance from each artist, plus highlights from the recent / current Transgressive roster - that's further videos/live tracks from THE YOUNG KNIVES, JEREMY WARMSLEY, LARRIKIN LOVE, and BATTLE.
An accompanying booklet features extensive sleeve-notes from label-founders Tim and Toby reassessing and recounting the original releases and their respective impacts, as well as showcasing the artwork for each classic single. (Herein, there is also the longest credits and 'thank you' section ever known to man.)

Information 07 December 05the new issue of NME, published today in the UK, has reviewed 'two words two syllables' / 'meat product'. an extract appears below:
"burningpilot boast a name that evokes warm memories of the Ramstein air disaster of 1988, and a B-side called 'meat product'. Good start and 'two words two syllables' builds on it, sounding as it does something like a robotic Rakes with silicon skin and LED eye-sockets in a dark, possibly dystopic future. This alone is great, but better still comes on the aforementioned B, where vocalist Channel 3 barks "My meat/is out of date/And I'm lead to believe you think meat product/Is great!" over rapier-sharp guitar lines and dotty oriental synth melodies. Fantastic stuff.."
